lecture-lounge
Lecture-Lounge is the title and term for an "open-source" artist-run
project within the context of the P.S.1 Studio Program 2000-2001. It is
conceived as a series of presentations of international artistic and theoretical
positions and discourses, in order to place these into a public dialogue
and to intensify intercultural discussions within the New York art-scene.
The on_site/on_line format of Lecture-Lounge contains two levels of presentation:
as a twelve-hours event at the P.S.1's Clocktower-Gallery it provides 30min
slots for ongoing lecture-presentations as well as temporary installations,
performances, a web terminal, a slide- and videoarchive. The LL-website
is an elementary part of the Lecture-Lounge and unites structure on several
levels: information, communication, documentation.
The Lecture-Lounge LL vol.01 (on Feb. 20, 2001) presented itself as an open
source with differing artistic positions and
statements. The forthcoming LL vol.02 (scheduled for June 19, 2001) will
present the context and networks of the international artists at the P.S.1
Studio Program 2000/01 and their collaborations. Through this series of
alternative positions and structures of art mediation we aim to outline
current discourses within the international operating system of art.
